Shane Lies

Shane Lies is the Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer at Donald C. (DC) Cook Nuclear Plant, located on the coast of Lake Michigan near Bridgman, Michigan. The plant is owned by Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) which is an operating company of American Electric Power (AEP).

In this position, Shane provides corporate oversight of the plant and represents AEP in all industry and regulatory matters related to nuclear power generation. Shane began his career at DC Cook in 1996 as a System Engineer. In 2003, he successfully completed the operator initial license training program and earned his senior reactor operator license. After serving in the control room as a unit supervisor, Shane filled management roles in Engineering and Operations, including Engineering Director and Plant Manager.

Shane earned his bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University.
